Eikemo water tunnel in Norway
A tunnel construction site can be located hundreds of metres above the sea level.
We built a 5.5 kilometre long water transfer tunnel and seven water intake structures for the Eikemo hydropower plant in Kvinnherad, Norway. The mountainous area at the height of several hundred metres is characterised by glaciers and challenging weather conditions, which place special demands on the planning of logistics and safety.
At the first stage of the project, 3.5 kilometres of road was constructed by transporting the materials to the site by helicopter. The project was completed in 2013, ahead of schedule.
