LEMMINKÄINEN CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 29 AUGUST 2012 AT 3.45 P.M
LEMMINKÄINEN WILL BUILD A BMX TRACK IN THE KIVIKKO EXERCISE PARK
Lemminkäinen will build a BMX biking track in the Kivikko exercise park in Helsinki. The client is Pyöräkrossiparkki Oy, which will rent the track to the biking association BMX Helsinki ry upon its completion. The BMX track will be the first of its kind in Finland to meet international standards. It will be completed in autumn 2012 and opened to the public in spring 2013.
Lemminkäinen will build the entire track with the exception of the final shaping of its surface layers. Construction will be environmentally friendly, relying almost 100% on recycled materials such as crushed concrete and reclaimed asphalt. The track will have a surface area of 70 x 120 metres and a length of about 350 metres. A total of about 10,000 m3 of ground materials will be used, and about 1500 m2 will be asphalted. 400 metres of fences will be built around the track. Lemminkäinen's contract also includes municipal engineering. In addition, the area will be grassed over.
