LEMMINKÄINEN BUILDS THE TAPIOLA STATION FOR WEST METRO
Lemminkäinen and Länsimetro Oy have signed an agreement on the construction of the Tapiola station on the West Metro line. The work will begin in September 2013, and it is scheduled for completion in October 2015. The contract value is approximately EUR 40 million.
In addition to the Tapiola metro station and the track tunnel, Lemminkäinen's contract also includes the construction of a cable tower, technical facilities under Merituulentie, pressure equalisation shafts and a watertight barrier wall.
"In the extensive Tapiola metro station contract, we can make use of our strong and versatile expertise in foundation and civil engineering. We have been involved in building the West Metro right from the beginning, and in August we began the construction of the Matinkylä metro station," says Harri Kailasalo, Executive Vice President at Lemminkäinen.
The Tapiola metro station will be located at the Tapiola shopping centre and traffic hub, under Merituulentie. Approximately 20,000 passengers are expected to travel through the station every day.
