Latvian President Vejonis visits Lemminkäinen’s wastewater treatment plant construction site in Finland
Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis visited the Blominmäki wastewater treatment plant under construction in Espoo on 1 November 2016. The visit was part of President Vejonis’ state visit and the Pöyry meeting arranged in connection with it.
At Blominmäki, President Vejonis got acquainted with the treatment plant project, and he and his entourage visited the underground excavation area that will house the plant once completed.
The wastewater treatment plant commissioned by Helsinki Regional Environmental Services HSY has been designed by Pöyry, while Lemminkäinen is in charge of the excavation and rock support works.
Excavation work in Blominmmäki began in 2015, and the wastewater treatment plant will be completed in its entirety in 2020. Once completed, the highly efficient plant will be processing the wastewaters of about 400,000 people in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
