Foundation stone laid at Turku indoor sports centre

The foundation stone of Turku’s new indoor sports centre was laid on 26 August 2016.

On hand to lay the foundation stone were Saara-Sofia Sirén, Member of Parliament and City Councillor; Jarkko Virtanen, Deputy Mayor, City of Turku; Markus Kalmari, Sports Services Director, City of Turku; Jukka Lämsä, Regional Director, Lemminkäinen Building Construction; and Mikko Lehtinen, CEO, Turku Technology Properties.

Construction work began in March and is progressing on schedule. Earth construction and foundation work has already been completed and the frame of the building’s first phase is going up at a fast rate. The indoor sports centre will be completed in late 2017. It will be 12.5 metres high, with capacity for 2,500 people. Lemminkäinen is responsible for the project’s planning and construction.

The progress of construction can be monitored via sets of images from the construction site, updated every 10 minutes.
