Residential construction starts in Finland and in St Petersburg
In 1984, Lemminkäinen, which had mainly built industrial and office premises, branched out into residential construction in Finland.
By the next year, the company’s subsidiary Palmberg had started four residential building projects.
The company had entered the renovation business already in 1977 with a renovation project on wooden residential houses in Vallila, Helsinki.
Residential construction increased rapidly. In 1995, Palmberg had 373 building construction projects going on and its subsidiary Konte was working on a 100-apartment housing complex in Vaasa.
In 2004, Lemminkäinen built 859 homes in contract projects and 948 homes in its own construction projects in Finland. In 2007, we started the construction of a 500-apartment complex in St Petersburg.
