Name, title, tasks
Project Design Manager, Tapiola Project
My primary tasks include preparing of the project-specific design documentation before construction, and the controlling of documentation at the construction phase. The aim is to ensure that the project is progressing according to schedule and in accordance with the regulations.
What kind of training and education do you have?
I graduated from the Saint Petersburg State Architectural and Construction University in 2012. My major was industrial and civil construction. In addition, in 2007, I completed a course in automated structural analysis of building load-carrying structures in the Designing Institute that operates in connection with the university.
How did you end up in your current position?
I started working in 2007 while I was studying. Until 2013, I worked as a structural designer. This is the first time I work as the Project Design Manager in a large residential complex project.
Among the most interesting projects are the Second Stage of the Aleksandrinsky Theater and the Almazov Medical Center in Saint Petersburg.
What is your typical working day like?
In this project every day is different and interesting. My days begin with planning the tasks for the day. As there is a lot to do, tasks need to be well planned and prioritised. I always try to be as effective as possible and get a lot done.
What do you like most about your job?
My job is important and responsible. It is very difficult to construct a good building based on a poor design.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
From time to time, fairly complicated tasks occur in projects but we have developed a working method that allows us to solve with them successfully.
A good engineering solution can be found for almost any problem. The most challenging thing is to find the solution quickly in order to avoid delays in construction. This is why the solution must be easily defined and unambiguous in the drawings.
What kind of a person succeeds in your position?
There are several qualities that a Project Design Manager should possess: competence, ability to take responsibility for decisions made, efficiency, good communications skills, respect, strict observance of management's instructions, accuracy and diligence.
